One of the most difficult decisions you may face is determining when it is the right time to put your dog to sleep. It's never easy, and we understand that. From the moment you call, we will listen and do what we can to support you.
We provide compassionate in home euthanasia for dogs and cats in the familiar surroundings of their home. Choosing in home care will allow you and your friend to spend time together and say goodbye without the stress of going to a vet clinic.
You probably have many questions, please feel free to contact us about anything that's on your mind, even if you just need to talk through it. We also recommend visiting our other pages regarding the euthanasia process and preparation, and grief support which contains a great deal of additional information about how to deal with this difficult time.
If you are having a hard time making this decision or just don't really know if the time has come to say good-bye or not, we can assist you with an in-home Quality of Life Assessment, which may help you understand how your pet is doing and how your pet's quality of life is influencing you.
Some pets who have a good quality of life, but need additional support for to remain as comfortable, pain friend and active as possible may be good candidates for palliative or hospice care. Our goal with palliative and hospice care is to help maintain a good quality of life.
We also provide other traditional veterinary services to pet owners that are conducted at your home including medical care, preventative care, palliative and hospice services, and in home euthanasia for both cats and dogs.
As the founding director of the Dove Lewis Pet Loss Support Program, I understand the importance of excellent communication, confidence and comfort with your pet’s veterinarian.
I have known Dr. Mesher professionally and personally for over 12 years. She is an exceptional veterinarian, knowledgeable, responsive, accommodating and caring. I regularly refer people to her because I know they will get exactly what they and their beloved pets need.”

I can't tell you how great everything turned out for one of the most difficult times in our lives. Dr. Dillon and tech Jen couldn't have been anymore compassionate, professional, sensitive and supportive.
After over 13 years, we had to make the phone call to have someone come to our home to help us through this difficult time. Linda on the phone was just as wonderful. She helped us though our hesitation, guilt and resolve. Do call, you will not be disappointed. Thank you PDX At Home Vets.

Dr. Louise Mesher is one of a kind. She helped ease the passing of my 13.5 yr old Golden Retriever with endless patience, compassion and kindness. Although it was the hardest decision I've ever made, she never pushed and was there helping the whole way.
I now use her as my regular vet for the rest of my furry babies. She knows, she cares, she is simply the best you will find. And it is fortunate that she comes to your home to alleviate the stress that the pets endure when going to veterinary offices. I recommend her highly!

Saying good-bye is one of the most difficult parts of having pets as our companions and I can't imagine having to go through this without the wonderful and amazing support we received from everyone at At Home Veterinary Services.
Dr Mesher was the one who helped us make our final decision to take care of our sweet girl and to do this for her, not to her. I will never forget how she and Angie held our hands and guided us along the way until we said our final good-bye.
If you ever need the service of an In Home Vet, please call them for the tough times, as well as the good ones. You will be so grateful
