Samples for blood testing and urinalysis, as well as for cytology, ear cytology, and other tests, can be obtained from your cat in the comfort of your living room. Cats older than about 10 years old usually benefit from regular blood pressure monitoring as well — the readings obtained are often more accurate than those obtained from a stressed cat in a strange and chaotic clinic environment.
If chest, abdominal, or orthopedic x-rays are needed, we can perform these tests with our digital radiology equipment at our very quiet office (your cat will likely be the only cat in the building!) in Tigard. We can also arrange for a cardiologist or an internal medicine specialist to perform consultations and ultrasounds/echocardiograms at our office. For cats that hate to leave the house, this is a better alternative than a bustling clinic with upset cats in carriers in the waiting room. It is a quiet and peaceful space — if your feline friend has to leave their home for medical care…this is the best situation possible from their perspective!
What We Cannot Do at Home
We are proud of how much we can accomplish during a home visit, but there are some things that require a clinical facility:
- Surgery requiring general anesthesia
- Dental procedures (cleanings, extractions)
- CT scans or MRI
- Endoscopy
For these services, we can refer you to trusted partner clinics in the Portland area and coordinate with them to ensure continuity of care.
