Louise Mesher, DVM, CCRT — Owner Veterinarian at At Home Veterinary Services

Louise Mesher, DVM, CCRT

Owner Veterinarian

Dr. Mesher was born and raised in Newfoundland, Canada. She lived in British Columbia for a while, and it was there she realized the PNW is home. After veterinary school at the Atlantic Veterinary College, in eastern Canada, she loaded up her animals and moved to Washington state in 1999.

Louise has worked at various practices — a mixed animal practice, a cat clinic, a cat shelter, and as a staff veterinarian at Dove Lewis Emergency Animal Hospital in Portland. It wasn't until she took a job with a mobile practice in 2005 (House Calls for Pets) that she finally found her forever style of practice. Since then, she has worked with the certainty that this is how veterinary medicine "should be." Most animals and people are more comfortable at home!

In 2008, Louise started At Home Veterinary Services to provide in-home veterinary care for cats, especially senior pets often underserved in traditional veterinary clinics. All animals, regardless of age or mobility, deserve exceptional care and thoughtful treatment plans.

Louise is passionate about helping pet guardians improve their animals' quality of life. There is nothing more satisfying, she believes, than giving a geriatric pet a new lease on life. She has continually worked towards learning new ways to relieve pain, restore function, and provide comfort. She has trained in acupuncture and in rehabilitation (like physical therapy) to bring more options to her patients. She loves empowering caregivers to have the confidence and skills they want and need to give their cats optimal comfort, especially as they age.

In addition to feeling very fortunate to have a career and co-workers that she loves, Louise loves gardening and planning for an edible landscape at the rural property she shares with her husband, Ryan, daughter, Emmie, and an array of misfit pets.

Heather B. Dillon, DVM — Associate Veterinarian at At Home Veterinary Services

Heather B. Dillon, DVM

Associate Veterinarian

Graduating from Texas A&M University in 1996, and completing an internship at Atlantic Veterinary College, paved the way for Dr. Dillon's career in the Portland metro area. She has now spent almost half of her career seeing cats in their own homes, and cannot imagine practicing medicine any other way.

Helping cats live their most comfortable lives is one of Heather's greatest joys. She especially values the collaboration that happens between a veterinarian and the cat's family. Housecalls only deepen this teamwork.

Whether it is helping manage chronic pain, or figuring out how to get a scared cat care, Dr. Dillon uses creative thinking, patience, and flexibility. Often caregivers need help, too, and Dr. Dillon greatly values the education that can result from time in the cat's home.

Heather lives in Portland with her husband, a variety of cat characters, and sometimes a college-aged son.
